Old Jake, a pseudo-sourdough who claims to know the desert, takes three young friends in search of the legendary Salt Creek mine. They intrude on the territory of a renegade family with two bloodthirsty sons. They find the mine all right, with the help of Jake's map, but naturally the two sons find them. It all turns out okay in the end...sort of. But the real clincher comes when Jake has to face the real owner of the map.
PRODUCTION HINTS: Barney's Bonanza is set in a desert/foothills terrain. It has a cast of eight. Part of the story takes place in a mineshaft, which caves in eventually. Suitable for video or film.
